Welcome to Present Value! We created this site for a number of reasons, most notably:

  1. We want to share our knowledge and expertise with the world
  2. We want to learn from others and refine our point of view

Finance is too important to be left opaque. So much of what shapes our lives - the companies we work for, the prices we pay, the savings we try to grow — runs on a language most people were never taught to read. We want to help change that, and we'd like you to come along.

Note

Our mission is to demystify finance so people can better understand the world they live in.

This site is where we share what we've learned about finance, economics, accounting, and investing. But we don't think of it as a lecture. We are still learning too — constantly, and never fast enough — and some of the best corrections we'll ever get will come from you. So we hope you'll read closely, push back hard, and teach us where we're wrong. That exchange is the whole point.

What We Publish

Deep dives into companies. We take a company's publicly available financial information — usually straight from its SEC filings — and work patiently through the numbers to find what they actually say about how the business runs, and what it might be worth. Where the evidence supports it, we share our own valuations.

Economic Data. We take in, analyze, and synthesize economic data to make better sense of the world around us — how our economies actually operate, what the numbers reveal about the forces shaping them, and what that means for the companies and markets we follow.

Teaching. A section devoted to the fundamentals: the concepts and the vocabulary of finance, explained plainly and from first principles, for anyone who wants them.

A news wire. When something meaningful happens in the markets or the wider economy, we'll write about it here — current events, thought through as they unfold.

How We Work

We strive to use the most accurate information available and to cite our sources rigorously. Most numbers here trace back to a primary source — usually an SEC 10-K or 10-Q, parsed directly from EDGAR. If a chart is shown, it ships with its data source; if a ratio is cited, the derivation is spelled out.

Reach Out

We hope what you find here proves genuinely useful — and we are always trying to understand the world around us a little better. This research only improves with scrutiny, so tell us where we're wrong, what we've missed, or what you'd like to see next. Write to us at info@presentvalue.ai. We'd love to hear from you.
